kinetic sand

Made kinetic sand today using gak and coloured sand.

Make a portion of gak but make a little bit sticky, then keep adding coloured sand. It takes quite a lot. Just keep kneading it in until you get the consistency you want.

Here is the sand I made!

Book Reviews

As a student I am always reading and researching books and articles and I sometimes come across some good books relating to working with individuals with PMLD. The following books published recently are very good read especially for those working in education.

Sensory Stories for Children and Teens with Special Educational Needs – A Practical Guide by Joanna Grace

Joanna writes from the heart, making the book easy to read and extremely interesting. It is a mixture of theory and practice and gives the reader some great ideas on how to create and present effective sensory stories. A must for anyone working with people with PMLD. The book is not limited to children and teens as suggested in the title, it is suitable for all. Well worth every penny. You must buy it!!

Curricula for Teaching Children and Young People with Severe or Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties – Practical Strategies for Educational Professionals bu Peter Imray and Viv Hinchcliffe

This well written easy to read book effectively relates theory to practice, providing some thought provoking ideas and challenges for all those working in the field. This book is written from personal experience and offers some practical way to provide a personalised education progamme designed to enhance and enrich the learning of individuals with PMLD. A must have book for those working in education.
